Default Pulling with a Nissan Murano?

Looking to trade my 2001 Mercury Marque for a new Nissan Murano to pull
my 2002 2720. Can anyone help? Would there be a problem with the brakes
or rest of the wiring. I just called a hitch place and they told me $200.00
for the hitch, which is not bad. The scary part was the wiring and brake
they said it a special app. around $600. Thanks in advance

You may want to get the ratings on that vehicle and plug them into this calculator:
http://changingears.com/rv-sec-calc-...eight-tt.shtml

The one that I found on cars.com only had a tow rating of 3500#. Be very careful about that also.....check the Owner's Manual for the qualifier that may state something like, "Weight of passengers and cargo must be subtracted from the max tow capacity".

My 2720 weighs closer to 4000# loaded and my tongue wt is 490# (yours may be a little less) which will far exceed the max tongue wt for this vehicle. However, there is a lot more to consider than the tow rating. Call the dealer and ask them for the ratings that are asked for in that calculator. The most important is the GCWR.

I mean, if you're going t buy a new vehicle anyway, you may as well be sure that you're going to have a suitable match. I'd hate to see you regret not doing the research until after you've made the purchase.

The 1st thing that concerns me is that your choice obviously was not built with a tow package. If you're going to buy new.....I would highly recommend buying a vehicle with a tow pkg from the factory (not an add-on).

The general consensus on this forum seems to recommend a minimum tow rating of 5000# (if you are happy with a maxed out vehicle).
