Many auto chain stores have a board with different sized studs mounted to it, so that you can take the nut in with you and find the size.

Be careful with the acorn style chrome lug nuts, to be sure that the stud does not bottom out on the nut before tightening down all the way.

Also, make sure the taper is the same. Some wheels will list what tapers are acceptable.

I have been thinking about a chrome lug nut upgrade myself....maybe with some chrome wheel rings, also.
