I think the engine has more to do with the drop in gas milage. Back in the early 80s a friend and I both had cab over campers. He had a Chevy with a 305 and I had a Ford with a 460. Without the camper, I got 14 to 15 mpg on the highway and he got 18 to 20 mpg. With the campers on, I got 13 to 14 mpg and he got 11 or 12 mpg. I think you loose more milage if your engine is staining.

I have a 3124KS that I tow with a Ford E-150 with the 5.4L. I only have a drop of 1 to 2 mpg from my normal 17 to 18 mpg when towing.

During the month of April the DW and I went from the CT. shore to Nashville TN. via Knoxville and stayed at Virginia Beach for a week prior to coming home. I noted milage for the entire trip only. With a 2005 3023 and a 2004 Chevy Silverado regular cab 4x4 with a 5.3 V8 we covered 3,342 miles and got 15.554 miles for the entire trip. We have no complaints about gas millage.

Default 2619 with Nissan Frontier

We live in Colorado and towed our 2001 2619 a few weekends ago up and over Loveland Pass on I-70 with our 2006 Nissan Frontier, 4WD, manual transmission, V6, 4.0 L engine and got 16 MPH going west and 18MPH going east. The combination kept up nicely with most of the trafficand slowed down some at the steepest parts of the trip but was still able to pass many other TV and TT combitanitons. We also kept the speeds around 65 MPH when on the flatter parts of the trip.

The truck is outfitted with a Prodigy controller and a weight distributing hitch and the combination felt quite safe going downhill. A key part of this was keeping the speeds reasonable and downshifting as appropriate.

We took our first trip last month with our '99 2619 and pulled it with our '97
S-10 BLazer 4.3l V6, 4dr, 4x4. Normally get around 19, maybe 20 on a good day, on the highway. Pulling the camper through Ky, mountains of Tenn/N Ca., we netted an average of about 14. We did better down south when it got flat and we didn't have to use Ky's reformulated, ethanol gas. It didn't help either as the ignition coil was going out without our knowledge ( until we were 40 miles from home when it died). I stayed around 65-70 mph the whole way tached out at almost 3000 rpm's. Using OD would have been really nice, but that would have burnt up the tranny real quick.

Has anyone towed with a Ford Expedition or Lincoln Navigator? If so, please share your mileage. Thanks!

We tow a 3124KS with a 2004 Ford Expedition. Not towing in interstates we get 17 mpg. Normal routine driving (grocery store, etc.) we get around 16 mpg. Towing the TM in the mountains we get 13-14 and towing in the flatlands get 14-15. No complaints here!
