Exclamation Walk around at every stop

Having a tire pressure monitor system is important, however; a visual inspection is the only way to find this type problem. Pressure was normal and temperature never rose more than 5* over ambient.

Wow, glad you were able to find the damage before it caused you bigger problems. How old were those tires?

Tire in question dated 3513 ... less than four years old.

I see that the Towmax is much cheaper than equivalent Goodyears. Is this a case of "sometimes it just happens", or "you get what you pay for"? I paid a premium for Goodyear Endurance tires. I hope I'll get good service out of them, but I understand these things sometimes "just happen".

Why the odd wear pattern? Is something wrong with your axle, or is the tire scraping something?

Yes that looks like a very odd wear. Like the camber or toe on the axle is off. But maybe its from a belt shifting and the tire became deformed. If you have not noticed the wear before it most likely not an issue. The tire just became deformed. But keep an eye on it. Any sings of it wearing on the outside I would have it into a trailer/truck shop for an alignment check.

PS, I also went to the endurance tires. My tire dealer a national chain stocks one brand of ST tires for each size. They can get other brand from the warehouse in one day. They indicated that for my size tire they switch from the Carlise to the GY endurance. Their comment was that everything they have seen the endurance is so over built. I hope they are right.

The new treads arrived today "D" Load rating with a date stamp 5116. Just over six months since manufacturing.

I'll have them balanced and have steel valve stems inserted. I was not overweight, the axle(s) are straight and true. The belt broke/separated and caused the tire to wear unevenly. The "D" rating is just for overkill.
