Dave, if you see this, when you had your tread separation on your 14" Kumhos, were they the OEM rims? Since the old 14" OEM rims are rated for 1870 lbs, could this have contributed any blowouts?

I'll probably be doing the lift kit, 15" rims, and LR D tires.

Yes, they were the factory rims. I don't really know why the rim could have contributed to the blowout -- it was completely unaffected, no damage whatsoever.

I don't see any reason to "upgrade" rims when upgrading to a high weight capacity tire. The rims are carrying the same weight with either tire, and since the load doesn't change, why change the rim? I suppose there might be a concern to change rims if the new tires are to be inflated at a significantly higher pressure, but I don't remember offhand if the rims are rated to any particular pressure (can't imagine so), and the Kumho's weren't inflated significantly higher than the original Marathons.

The rims specify a maximum pressure. A lot of them aren't specified for as high a pressure as load class E tires get to. And if you don't run the load class E tire at the specified pressure, it gets derated to a load class D and less pounds total load.

Just god ST205/R75/15 Endurance tire with 2" lift. They look lost better than my old 2002 tire

. Will be going cross country in 3 weeks.

Need to get new tires on the new camper that I will pick up next week..

Checking around, both the tire shops I buy tires at have the 225x75x15 endurance tires in LRE available. I figured a 10 ply equivalent aired up to GY's load psi chart at about 50 PSI.

What the opinion on these tires?

Picked 3 endurance 225/75/15 at discount tire. GY is running a promotion of 10% off at GY shops. Discount tire matched the discount. Aired the new tires to 65 psi.

Purchased 3 endurance 225/75/15 at discount tires about two months ago. Put in 65LB of pressure, as recommneded in bold letters on the tire itself. No squinting and light from phone to try to read the small print. Traveled 3,500 miles in two seeks to from MT to MI and back. Everything was great even at speeds that were more than I should have gone. It was a great "tire" trip. Expect years of good wear.

I'm hoping you can clarify something for me. I'm looking for tires as well. My Marathons are at 5 years and I'm not interested in pushing it any further. The 65lbs PSI printed on your tires indicates to me that this is a load range D, which is what I have now. From what I can find, Goodyear is only making ST225/75/15 LR E which would be 80lbs max PSI. I see a ST205/75/15 LR D, but the max load rating for this tire is only 2150 lb, which is too low for my 3023.

I guess my question for you is: Did you actually find a set of Endurance ST225/75/15 LR D?
Darned if I can.

Maxxis was my next bet. The Goodyear website isn't even advertising Marathons any more so I suspect all the ones out there are aging.

You are right. I have the ST205 R75 15 tire. I did not want the wider tire. Sorry about that. I have a 2720 so was confident with the 205. This is especially the case when I calculate the tongue weight subtracted from the trailer weight. I am assuming that is a legitimate calculation. Also, my axel is rated for 3500 so tire that are rated for a combined something like 5000 would be significant overkill. At least that is my understanding.
