Default Goodyear Announces American Made Trailer Tire

This is encouraging, although they lost so much brand loyalty over recent years with folks having moved on to Maxxis.

Dave -

Sadly, the Goodyear announcement seems to make it clear that the Endurance tire is not available in a size that does us any good. Perhaps that is coming up? Hope so!

[EDIT] I may stand corrected here. The Discount Tire web site says they have them in a ST205/75 R14 size, for $108. And Tire Rack says they have them in ST225/75R15 LR E for $121 - or maybe ST205/75R15 LR D for $110 - the ad contradicts itself.

My 3326 calls for 215/75-14 so those don't help me... But with 2 axles I'm not so worried about overloading tires. I just put a set of Carlisles on this past summer, so far so good. I wanted the Providers from etrailer.com because of their higher speed rating (83mph) but they couldn't get them to me in time.

Looked up my 205x75R15 LR D size on TR.

Didn't see any mention of one of my "must haves" for any larger trailer tire: a nylon (or some strong fabric) cap or overlay.

Also note the 107/102N. To me that means for an "N" speed rating you have to derate the load capacity from 2149 lbs at 65 psi to 1874 lbs.

from tire racks website

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...omCompare1=yes

The Endurance is Goodyear's special purpose trailer tire developed specifically for use on travel trailers, pop-up campers, boat trailers, toy haulers and fifth wheels. Endurance trailer tires are designed with durability in mind to help make towing a trailer less stressful by reducing impact-related failures experienced during use.

Special purpose trailer tires are not intended to be used on cars or light trucks.

Endurance trailer tires feature a rounded profile to help cushion the trailer's ride, and the symmetric tread design with closely spaced ribs provide constant rubber-to-road contact for straight tracking, dependable highway stability and long-lasting wear. The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts with a two-ply nylon reinforcement to stabilize the tread, increasing traction and durability. The Endurance features a polyester cord body to help smooth out the trailer's ride, and a scuff guard is molded into the sidewall to further increase durability by resisting damage from contact with curbs during parking lot maneuvers.

Special purpose trailer tires are not UTQG rated.

Cool

Meself I'm still intrigued by an LT215/75R/15 tire when I get the factory lift on and actually go to 15's. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...170218195323:s

Load Range D, 2095lb load capacity. What I like is it is the same width as the OEM 215/75/14's so no need to mod the spare tire carrier. Looks like they have the requisite steel and nylon internal structure. Plus they will look all kinds of cool and manly on the trailer .

Forgive me if this has been commented on already, but I did find any yet.

It seems like the 14" Goodyear Endurance has a higher load rating than the Maxxis 14" tires. This may make a good option if I need 14" tires before I'm able to get a lift or invest in 15" rims.

I'm still investigating. I see some have fit 15" wheels/tires without a lift, but I wasn't comfortable with the remaining clearance.

Wow, if the tirerack.com page is right, the ST225/75R15 load rating is now 2830 vs the 2540 on the Marathons. Me likey. Up to 80 psia too.

I just ordered two Marathons ST225 75R15 D this past week and the shop had to order them from their master distributor. I told them that the tires need to be a 2017 date code or I have a right of refusal. We'll see how this goes.

That's because it is a load range E rated tire.
