What will be interesting is to measure the impact of the 2.5 inch lift on my TM when I get it.

I would think there won't be any difference at all.

Not sure abut that. My heep roofline and the TM almost match so I suspect the airflow may be close to laminar. OTOH an Avalanche is almost a pickup so the airflow is going to be over the roof, down to the bed, and then need to reverse over the TM roof. Lotsa opportunity for turbulance. A 2.5" lift could well increase that drag.
If I wanted to max the MPG towing with an Avalanche, I'd build an insert for the bed to smooth and channel the airflow over the TM.

Remember that the Avalanche has the bed covers so it is not just an open bed. Even with that, I do agree that the air would still go down to the covers. Not sure how I would construct an insert that would still allow me to use the bed covers.

Dodge Durango MPG & 2720
On our recent trip to Florida, one tank full was all interstate and no more
than maybe 20 miles of city driving. The Durango has a 5.7 L Hemi V8
and the tank was filled with 89 octane. We calculated 14 MPG. Our best
measure ever while towing. I think this is because once we parked the
camper, our friends we were visiting came to the campground and drove us
every where we needed to go. The Durango didn't move until time to hookup
and head north again.
I've read other threads here in the forums about the Ford echoboost engines
and their pros & cons. But the best thing about my Durango, it's paid for!
Enjoy and have a safe Memorial day weekend!
God bless our troops.

I tow a small 2619 with a 2002 Toyota Tundra 4x4 V8 with a 3" lift. I only get 10-11mpg. I get 13 MPG when not towing. But its paid for!!

I don't think you will see a different. We did not notice a difference when we install a 2" lift kit and were towing with a sienna. But I'm sue we took a small hit around 0.1 MPG. But it is so hard to tell. We will see up to a 2 MPG variance depending on direction of wind, change in travel speed by 3-5 MPH, hills, and how close we are to sea level.

I agree that I cannot measure any difference after my lift kit was installed.
