I found a nice piece of software for burning files of any kind (not just audio) onto CDs. Much easier (for me, at least) than Windows Media Player. Not cluttered with Playlists, Media Libraries, elaborate skins, strange jargon, and the rest of it.

The good part is that it's free, easy to use, and quite intuitive.

The bad part is that when you install it, it installs a separate piece of trashware at the same time. The trashware is easy to get rid of - but it is important to get rid of it.

If anyone has a CD burner but no software, or software you don't like, contact me by private forum message or email (see my profile), and I will walk you through the very simple procedure for doing it all.

Bill

BTW, Windy, you recommended Easy CD Creator, and you are right - it is the best I have found. My problem is that I just bought a new PC, and moved the CD-burner from the old one to the new one - and my old Easy CD Creator version 4 isn't compatible with Windows XP. And as great as it is, Easy CD Creator isn't free.

A business here in the DFW area has recorded old Amos n' Andy tapes into their telephone system to entertain callers who are put on hold. Several times I've found myself hoping the guy I called was on the phone so I could hear the entire segment.

The line I remember best from a recent call is when an agitated female voice is heard in the background and Amos tells Andy in his unmistakable drawl "uh oh, here comes the meanest woman in the world" and a few seconds later, when another voice is heard "and this one is the first runner-up."

That show would probably never be aired in this age of political hyper-correctitude (hows that for a new word?) but it's still a hoot for some of us near-geezers who can remember when.

Having used my old time radio CDs during our trip to New Jersey for the holiday was great, though there is quite a bit of noise in the recordings, just like an old time radio. Therefore, it may not be easy to hear some shows in your cars, but they work a bit better in a CD walkman.

Hmmmm, the links need updating.

I love OTR: Dragnet, Father Knows Best, Richard Diamond, etc.

We have an old-time radio station in our car radio (Sirius FX), but we have no listening choice. Thanks for this update, as we can now pick and choose what shows we want. There is a tremendous variety to which this old-timer can relate!
And, no one has to worry about cutting new CD's---I hadn't looked carefully at the dates before, but IPods and now phones have made them obsolete. I wondered why all of these tech savy folks were talking about cutting CD's! As I still have 70.7 GB's of room left on my old Classic IPod, in spite of having of huge musical collection aboard, still have plenty of room left for some old favorites.
