Default 1991 TM23 Model 23886

July 01, 2011
I live in central KY and just purchased a vintage TM23 manufactured Oct 1990 Model 23886. Need to rehab and repair it. Seems to be in fair shape but have not used yet. Overwhelmed on where to start. Help, I have 5 questions.
1 Where to find owner's manual?
2 Model equivalent to the old Model 23886?
3 Sources of how to and diy on rehabing 20yr old TM23?
4 Who on forum owns a similar TM?
5 What did I get myself into?

Roger

Default Model Number 23886

Re the proper model number,
Painted on exterior in big letters is TrailManor 23. On side 6 inch aluminum sticker is the following:

TrailManor Manufactured October 1990
3420 GAWR
F7814C Tires
14" Rims
50 PSI Cold Single
GVWR 3916
VIN 1T923BF1XM1074886
23886 Model Number

Can't find any other markings on the camper.

Thanks,
Roger

This MariaG's Blogspot about rebuilding her 1986 TM25: http://trailmanorrepair.blogspot.com/

By no means do I think you need to rebuild your TM but you may find her blog helpful if you do run into problems.

There have been others who had older Tm's that needed work or to be rebuilt I will see if I can find you some more links.

http://trailmanorrepair.blogspot.com/

The TM's before 2001 (I think that is the correct date) were framed with wood where the newer TM's are framed with aluminum.

Hopefully yours has been well maintained and cared for and you will not need to make extensive repairs. However if you do need make repairs the links will be useful to you.

This is a link to photo and written record of Happy Trails...rebuilding his TM 25: http://www.trailmanorowners.com/foru...ad.php?t=10660

I also suggest that on the main Trailmanorowners page that you click on the top link called something like...Information you won't find anywhere else. It shows two posts...but click on the link below to access everything written from the beginning and you will find a wealth of information. I think there is a manual also posted there. TM manuals are fairly generic and they are NOT written model specific. You can often find manuals for the appliances on line by googling the mfg. name.

At the bottom of this thread is a link to a TM Manual that someone was kind enough to scan: http://www.trailmanorowners.com/foru...ead.php?t=2472

BTW...The "Search" feature is your friend.

Hope this helps.

On this thread...Tom 417 states he has a TM23 and he is still a site sponsor so perhaps you could pm him:

http://www.trailmanorowners.com/foru...ight=1990+TM23

I found this using the search button and typing in TM23.

He also says that the floor plan of him TM23 is basically a 2720.

I gave you a link to an on line manual for TM's. The bathroom is always in the same place...the models of the converters, air conditioners, stove, heater and refridgerator do change over the years. You can usually find the on line manual for most appliances on line by googling.

The are many links on small rehab projects...constantly discussed on the forum...for instance curtains, recovering sofa, installing pergo type flooring or vinyl flooring...the a.c. is sometimes discussed as well. Older units btw I believe used a window unit mounted on the side of the camper.

Have you picked up your TM yet? Can you post photos?

I have an owners manual from 1997 and would be glad to email it to you. It's pretty basic, it covers the TM itself and none of the appliances, they each have their own info sheets.

If there's something wrong with your TM you should post exactly what needs to be fixed, otherwise we don't know what you need to fix and where to direct you.

Welcome to the TM board, and hopefully you have found a gem in the rough!

I've been on the board for 8 years now, and kind of remember what's been discussed about fixing things, but sometimes it takes a bit of digging.

Our "owners manual" is I believe two sheets of mimeographed, typewriter written text, folded in half and stapled, on how to put up and take down. Eight pages. That's it. This forum has been MUCH more helpful. *G*
