You should be OK. Not really legal but Idoubt they would pull you over for it.

I seldom use my mirrors and they are right in the back seat.........lazy, I guess....

How far are you towing? You WILL need mirrors unless you have "tow" mirrors on the Tundra. I tow my TM a few miles from storage to the house without mirrors a lot. But i really should have some on there.

Of course for any trips you'll want them on there, it's the law in most states.
I seem to do best with just one on the drivers side, the passenger side creates a blind spot that has caused me to scare people and myself, better mirrors may be in order for me.

I do not have the factory tow mirror option on my Tundra. I also do not use strap on mirrors. I have a pair but they are really unnecessary given the width of the Tundra. Unnecessary doesn't guarantee legal of course but you should be able to see the sides of your TM with just the factory mirrors. I don't know if the 07-10 body style makes my experience different from John's 2006.

I suspect you will be OK to get it home. But I would really look into mirror extensions. Legal really doesn't make any difference to me...I want maximum safety.

"Maximum safety"? I hope you want significantly less than that.

I have towed without tow mirrors & really didn't like the major blind spot in the rear without them. I also am used to my daily work truck having Cameras on all 4 sides & have decided to start looking at how I could do the same for the TM but wiring seems like it will be a little difficult for rear camera to be mounted high.

For me, the questions are "Can you see the next lane well enough to make safe lane changes?" and "Can you see the sides of the trailer well enough when you back up?"

I bought strap-ons from an online RV store for $15 or $20 apiece, but I rarely use them because I see pretty well with the stock mirrors. My son's Town & Country feels blind when towing without them (different trailer, not a TM). So I find the question to be hard to answer in advance because it's pretty situation specific. My suggestion is to buy the strap-ons so that you have them.

I've been using some cheap strap-ons on the Sierra which work great. Seeing the full lane on either side is a whole lot safer than not. Very easy to install but must be fairly tight to prevent annoying jiggle.

On the Jimmy, we have a pair of mirrors that are spring loaded and mount just at the forward section of the wheel well. There is a padded hook that goes into the wheel well and 2 padded arms that go into the joint of the hood. They work pretty good, never any jiggle, but, unlike the strap-ons, to adjust them, you have to stop and have the passenger get out to tweak them. I generally have to do that twice to get it right.

John - if you are interested, I have a set of the McKesh clones that Camping World sells. I don't use them anymore. See my ad at
http://www.trailmanorowners.com/foru...ead.php?t=9695
Send me a PM if interested.
(PS - I'm in Monument so we could meet and I could show them to you if you want.)
