Default 2001 Chevy 4x4, 5.3L Vortec, pulling 2720

We drove our new TM home this weekend. We got around 16 mpg towing the TM. Regular mileage with all 4 of us in the truck, AC on, is about 19.

It pulled like a dream, had to slow to 50 or so on some of the steepest hills (could have gone faster, but didn't want to stress the engine, also always turn off the AC when going uphill). What a great towing experience. The best part was going uphill and passing all these bigger trucks with rigs not much "bigger" than ours and not straining the engine at all. The weird thing about the Chevy is how the temp gauge never budges at all. It does work...when you start up it slowly moves upward.

We just have a regular hitch (vastly overrated for the TM, but when we put it on didn't know what we'd be getting) and it worked just fine...no swaying, handled the bumpiest roads, passing by big rigs coming from the other direction on 2 lane roads, hardly even noticed the TM behind the truck.

Neither of us were stressed out at all by the drive...we could punch it when needed to pass (even uphill) and could accelerate quickly on the onramps. It was hard to keep the speed down and stay in the slow lane.....especially with all the traffic. The TM is easy to see around (and you can kind of see over the top, larger vehicles, that is).

We are so happy with our decision to buy the TM and our truck and can't wait to take them somewhere together again!!!

;D It does this old heart good to see more folks converted to the "overkill on tow truck" crowd. The full size is the only size for towing!

I tried a small truck, white knuckle time, switched - dream time! Could not believe the difference.

Now when I take the TM out the only thing I worry about is weight in the trailer, not for the truck but for the trailer.

;D
