Default Carlisle tires

Im worried I bought the wrong thing. Went to discount tire today with my tire and wheel size in hand which I got from this forum, and ordered some tires, a little different than planned. Cost a lot and want to make sure these will work, and are safe for my 3023.

I ended up buying these tires and wheels.

Carlisle Radial Trail RH
ST205/75R15D1
http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/tir...il.do?pc=47159

Wheel:
W21-5612 2150LBS 15x6 5-114.3

Can someone with better knowledge on trailer tires/wheels tell me if these are ok?

My single axle 2010SL model came with Goodyear ST225 75R15 tires that have a rating of 2540lb@65 Psi.

The 205's only have a max of 2150lb which I suspect is too low for your 3023 which weighs more than my 2720SL.

I went to epinions

http://www.epinions.com/reviews/Carl...T_Utility_Tire

They average 1 star of 5 for 51 of 53 reviews. Not sure where to go these days as the Chinese tires all seem to be junk.

There is a lot of stuff out there on tires so you might want to look around the website.

FWIW,
I'm running Carlisles on my 3500# capacity utility trailer and never had a problem. Seven years and still going strong. Using ancient Carlisles on my 16' flat bottom boat trailer (as in before date codes were week/year) and they're doing great. Putting 15" E-rated Carlisles on my TM as we speak. The common thread among these tires (besides all being Carlisles which doesn't matter to me) is that they're overkill for the application, meaning they don't heat up as much and thus have less chance of failure. Don't believe all the bullsh1t out there about brand x vs y. The reason our TMs burst 14" C tires IMHO is because they're too close to the load limit in the first place. Heat 'em up and physics will do what comes naturally. Are 10-plys on a my 2720 overkill? Yup. Is overkill an extra margin of safety? I think so. (Bobby can put me in my place if I'm way off base.) In your case SSpeed, I'd certainly stuff a 225/75 15" under there if they would fit, but only because of increased load rating, not brand name.

ok, Im cancelling my order first thing in the morning. It just doesnt feel right. I would probably worry about the tires too much. Plus for the price I am paying I should get exactly what I want. The main thing other than a odd brand, and bad reviews, is that almost everyone on these forums went with a 225/75 and not 205/75. I know the difference is minimal, but some online tire calculators show that the 225's would rotate less, so in my mind, thats less heat.

Its amazingly difficult to find tires for these things. Even these forums get rather confusing to a newbie like myself. Its not a "point and click and buy" type of thing.

With a load rating difference of 390Lb -- the difference is hardly minimal

Sounds like a good plan SSpeed. The "gut feel" is often the right way to go. Also a quick note. Check the price on www.discounttiredirect.com. Discount Tire retail outlets will usually match that price if you mention it up front. Good luck!
