Default weight distribution hitch

Just getting started and have a 2000 2702sl and will pull it with a 2009 Odyssey. Honda recomends that I use a WDH. It seems to pull OK with out but maybe to be on the safe side I should get one. Any suggestions on model to use?

I am happy with EaZLift 1,000 lb so far. Of course others here have allot more experience with this than I do

I also have a 2000 2720SL, and use the Robin hitch. I have either the 750 or 1000 pound version -- whichever one it is called.

Robert -

Most vehicles have two specs for allowable tongue weight. One is called "weight-carrying". The other number, which is larger than the first, is called "weight distributing". As you might guess, the second number applies when you are using a weight-distributing hitch.

And you are right. Do not move weight to the rear of the TM in an attempt to reduce tongue weight. Sway is a terrible thing.

We just installed an EAZ-LIFT 750 on our 2006 Toyota Sienna. It was on sale at Camping World. Otherwise a 550 may have been a better fit for the TM2619's approx. 350 lb. tongue weight. The 750 may be a bit stiff, but it does the job. After towing the TM 150 miles with only Air Lift air springs installed, the WDH was a big improvement. The Sienna immediately felt "normal" again in terms of handling. The combo of air springs and WDH is a winner. Mileage took a big hit, however. We dropped from 25 to 15 mpg highway when towing.
