I started out towing with a 2002 Chevy 1500HD crew cab 4wd truck. Until I started loading the truck with either an ATV or a pair of motorcycles, I had no need for a weight distributing hitch.

I still have that truck, but it is mostly used to tow the ATV trailer. We now tow the TM with a 2008 GMC 2500HD long bed, 4wd. I wanted the full 8 foot bed. With the bigger truck, I, once again, have no need for a WD hitch.

With a Chevy crew cab, I doubt that you would need to use a WD hitch, unless you take more stuff than me, which I would find hard to believe.

If you are interested, around July or August 2005 I posted the weights for mine. I actually weighed in on some scale.
