Default What caused my blow out?

DH just took what was left of our 1.5 year old tire (which was a Titan) to the place where we bought it and was told the likely culprit was tread seperation and was probably due to a defect.
Just FYI

Did they offer to pay for the damage caused by the defect????

Mmmmm ... didn't think so.

The "owner" was not in but before DH brought it in, the "owner" spoke to me on the phone and only promised to not charge for the labor. He infered that we must have run over something. We shall see what he says tomorrow. We left the tire there for inspection.

I've never figured out how a trailer can run over something that the tow vehicle didn't already run over. But it seems to happen all the time, and its always the trailer tire that is damaged. Funny thing ...

As you can tell, my experience with trailer tires has not always been positive.

Big O gave me the # of Titan and said I had to call directly. I just did that and they were very nice and are willing to pay me dealers cost on both tires even though only one blew. They say that is roughly 75% of what I paid. They need a copy of the receipt and the "dot" number cut off the side of the tire and mailed to them.
I have a lift kit coming from TM hopefully by Friday. I will purchase 14" wheels and tires at that point.

Anyone know the diameter of a 14" tire? My wheel well looks so small.
