Default Help glue removal from Velcro

I’m replacing a couple of Velcro strips, been using denatured alcohol, gugone, and a lot of elbow grease. Still not able to remove all of the adhesive. Looking for suggestions. Also where to get Velcro replacement. Thanks much

A quick trip to the Velcro web site turns this up. "The best method to remove any of our adhesive-backed products is to use a citrus-based adhesive remover." That is Goo-Gone.

In my personal experience, removal of almost any "impossible" adhesive is made possible by using heat. While I have not specifically used it for the adhesive on Velcro, I have used it to remove all kinds of shipping labels, price tags, and even the prescription labels on prescription drug bottles.

I have a cheap Harbor Freight heat gun, which works like magic when used with a sharp putty knife or razor blade. Go slow and easy as you scrape. The secret of course, is to get the adhesive hot enough to soften it, without overheating whatever is under it.

If you don't have a Harbor Freight store handy, I would think that a hair dryer would work.

Let us know.
