Default New Mattress

After reading what everyone has done about their mattress, I ordered a 4" dual foam mattress topper to replace my aging king mattress. I do not plan on using the TM mattress cover tho, as I am changing up the whole color scheme AND it is very heavy as well.

Has anyone put a mattress topper in a off the shelf waterproof mattress cover? Everything I see on line is for mattresses 6" and thicker and I am concerned with how much extra material there will be to deal with.

At this point I plan to line the bed tray with Reflectix, then put the covered mattress on top of that. If I find the 4" is not sufficiently comfortable, I may try an air mattress under the portion of the mattress I sleep on, the dog can live with just the topper . Thanks in advance.
