We have a Thetford recirculating toilet and want to go dry camping. My experience is that I cannot transport the trailer with any water in the toilet without it sloshing onto the lid. I purchased a 28 gallon Rhino tank to use at a campground without sewer but with a dump station.
Does anyone have suggestions how I can use the system dry camping? Thanks, D2Eben |

I don’t understand the issue… If you’re worried about traveling with a charged toilet, just carry a 3 gallon jug of water to charge the toilet when you arrive to the camp site. If you’re worried about traveling with a full toilet, dump it to the Rhino tank before you leave.
Another thing to check out is if the vinyl skirt is intact. That tends to help keep stuff inside the toilet from sloshing out of the toilet, unless it’s REALLY full. Here’s a couple versions of the parts diagram, maybe you can find a vinyl skirt somewhere. But the toilet is discontinued and parts are getting scarce real quick.

I'm with Shane. But if you absolutely must travel with liquid in the toilet, I have heard that a few people stretch plastic kitchen wrap over the top of the bowl, under the seat.
I haven't tried this, and have no intention of doing so. Good luck. Bill |

When we dry camp we don't fill up the toilet with water. We just use it for #1 at night, put in the deodorant and put the toilet paper in a bag underneath the TP holder. It will go a long long way and doesn't smell.

Behind a tree? While replying with my tongue firmly in my cheek, I am assuming you are "Dry Camping" at a campground with vault toilets and not "Boon-docking"

Public facilities. We don't go anywhere where there aren't basic facilities. But we have a luggable loo just in case. Home Depot bucket with a snap on lid. And we could go on a log if we needed. We have a shovel, LOL!
