Default Update: fridge not working.Newbie question low voltage warning light

Walked into the camper after dinner and noticed lights were all dim. AC seemed to be working fine but I turned it off immediately. Microwave works. Outlets work. But the little light on the lp gas detector is lit for "fault low voltage". Does the lp detector run off batteries? Is this just a battery issue? I don't want to ruin my AC.

Lp gas detector started beeping, but when we turned all the dimmed lights off, it quit beeping.

Your AC and plugs work off of 120V land power while the lights and LP detector work off the 12V battery system. Normally the land power 120V connection should charge the battery, but for some reason it appears you've lost the charge on the battery.

Was your fridge working on 12V, 120V, or propane? How old is the battery?

I'm sure others with more experience can chime in more suggestions, but hopefully I've given you something to look for.

Turning the lights off probably reduced the load on the battery enough to raise the voltage just enough to allow the propane detector to start working again.

Charge up your battery, check the water if it's the kind that lets you. Check your breakers by turning each one off, then on. Check if there is any reason the converter might not charge. Check the master fuse by the battery. Is the battery old? Was it left uncharged?

Bruce,
I noted that then AC was on meaning that they had to be plugged in which, I would expect, should have charged the battery. If they're on 15 amp service, there may not be much left for charging if the AC is on. And if the fridge is on the 12V it could drain the battery. Or one of the electrical components has failed.

Just a couple of thoughts...

I read all the replies to my husband and he is pretty certain the battery is really old. It was definitely left uncharged for months in storage. The camper was set up in storage but the lights would never come on. Charlie (hubby) says the battery looks really old, anyway. We're just using battery lanterns for light. If the batteries continue to decline, is the lp gas detector going to start beeping in the middle of the night? It never beeped in storage--at least that I know of. I need to know whether to make Charlie go to Walmart tonight.

Thanks for the prompt replies! I'm praying it's not a problem with the converter.

Fridge is not on battery. It's on land power. Although it's iffy, too. I think one of the kids didn't close it all the way and when we checked this afternoon, it wasn't cold. We checked out everything we could think of short of pulling a fuse. I decided to give it a few hours closed up tight to see if it's going to work.

ETA: we are on 30 amp service. Hubby will attempt to check water level in battery

Update: The refrigerator does NOT work. What the heck does all this mean? Even the toilet doesn't seem to flush with as much force. Does the toilet run off battery, too?

Our battery is an AC delco 2370. (Which is replacement for47-6YR) We cannot see anyway to check water level or add water.

ETA: We were finally able to find our battery on the Internet, and apparently it is a "maintenance free" battery. So nowhere to add water??

I have ruined a couple of batteries by letting them discharge. It may be a good idea to go out and pick up a new one tonight if possible.
