Default Smoke detector

On our 2006 2619 , I thought that the smoke detector over the bed was a hard wired model.....during a cleaning we found it is a battery model and was dead as a doornail. Just a reminder to check out those batteries.

I have found it best to remove and discard the smoke detector battery when storing the TM for the winter.

The cold weather will reduce the effective battery voltage to the point where the detector is beeping. My neighbors have come to me more than once to tell me my TM is beeping. I can't hear it unless I'm outside on that end of the house.

Leave the detector dismounted and stored in a conspicuous location in the TM during the winter. Install a new battery and remount the detector when you take the TM out of storage for the new season.

A new item for those with checklists.

My first battery lasted more than a year and a half. It is not hard on a battery when cold temperatures means 45 degrees in the garage.

If I remember, I replace the battery every spring.

I originally thought it was hard wired to the TM batteries. Of course when the alarm sounded the TM was closed and stored in the garage. It made noise until the battery was drained.
