Default How do you keep stuff from bouncing around as you roll down the road?

I've been wondering about this for awhile and haven't seen it discussed.

We have three pieces of approximately 2.5' by 2.5' by 3" egg carton foam. After we drop the wardrobe, I put one piece of foam standing up across the top of it. Then put the hanging cabinet in front of that with the other two pieces of foam beside it, one keeping it from the stove and the other on the sink side. Next comes the microwave etc. with the swim noodles doing most of the padding at that point. We make sure we have rugs under everything. When we set up, foam starts flying out the door fairly quickly and Gene installs the noodles and stores the rest of the foam in the back of the truck until we pack up again.

Does anyone have a plan that is slightly less amusing to the neighbors?

I use the bed pillowa and the couch throw pillows for damage control. Since I don't throw these out the door, my entertainment factor is somewhat lower than yours.

Default Packing around hanging cabinets

Once we start upsetting the trailer, we use pillows and blankets to pack around the cabinet, the microwave drawer, microwave, etc. We have been on 5 camping trips and have never had any problems with anything moving around or being damaged in any way.

Ha! We don't travel with couch throw pillows but do have the two big dogs and a monster kitty and don't really want our pillows anywhere near the floor. Those travel in one of those folding hampers. A flawed plan but better than the floor and they still usually add to the padding somewhere

I stick Ellen in the TM, close everything up, and tell her to hang on to everything.

My wall cabinets go in front of the sofa...and I use the one Tm pillow between the folded table and the lowered wall cabinet and then two toss pillows are placed...one between the other folded table and the other cabinetthen I put another toss pillow between one cabinet and the microwave drawer and that leaves just enough room for a couple pot holders or a kitchen towel between the other side of the microwave drawer and the other cabinet. (I think that is the longest run on sentence I have ever written)

We had the camper for a few years before I found out (on here...I think) that you can stack the shorter cabinet (the one for over the stove) on top of the one for over the sink. And that is with no problems closing the camper too. They are made to do that. Sooo If I purchase another of the over the sink cabinets I will still have no trouble transporting them. Oh yeah...I put the other TM pillow between the wardrobe and the bathroom door mirror.

When we travel with the small flat screen television it sits in the chair with the stand to the back of the seat. I once put it in the chair backwards and the chair shifted in transport and it scratched the wood grain paper finish on the refridgerator. I have priced a new insert and I have decided that for now the scratch does not bother me enough to spend 35.00 for a replacement piece of woodgrain paper finished cardboard.

So mainly it is our semi-recliner that moves sometimes. That and the built-in microwave oven (that was strapped down at the dealer as warranty work.) We have learned to put a rubberbacked rug in front of the chair and then it does not move.

Our bed pillows either sit on the sofa for the trip or they go into the wardrobe. We mostly wear foldable clothing...the 3124ks has soooooo much storage with the clothing cabinet under the bed, and since each of us have 3 dresser drawers and then there is the mega cabinet next to the sink area storage for the pillows is not a problem. Next year for the Missouri trip I plan to take a large Action Packer for dirty laundry and keep it out side...a he dirty bag of laundry inside the camper drives me crazy.

Shockingly enough, I guess there are different issues with different models

Default Interesting mods

Here is a link to a fellow named Lars who has done some interesting mods on his TM. He put a couple of eyebolts through the floor to tie stuff down.

Be sure to take a look at his method of stabilizing the trailer when set up!

In almost 50 trips in 2 different TMs, I've never given any of this much thought. We do stick pillows around the wall cabinets and we put a rug on top of the stove. The only issue that we've ever had was the top of the stove vibrating off on a couple real long trips.
