Default 2004 tm with hot water leak..??

Hi friends!
So yesterday I was beginning to pack up and I heard a "hissing sound" from underneath the sink in my 2004 2619 tm. Water was dripping from the insulation surrounding the hot water heater. I think it is the original tank that would make it 16 years old. I did not notice water spewing from the two front valves.

Question: do those tanks corrode out like a house hot water heater? Eventually, just have to replace the whole unit or is there a possible leak from one of the valves.

Any insight would be appreciated.
