Default 3124 Axle rating

Anyone know what the axle rating is? Specs say the dry weight is 3185 and the carrying max weight is 1227, for a total of 4412. So the axle rating needs to be above that but thought I saw somewhere that it was only 3500.

Default That's correct - even for new 2720s.

3125 has always used the 5K axle. But a few years ago, the factory took the lead of some guy who special-ordered a 2619 with that equipment factory-installed (in place of the 3500 axle), and made it "standard" on all models 2720 and larger. I suspect that the 2417 also uses the same axle - allowing TM to build all new models with the same running gear, and avoid stocking multiple kinds of axles.)

I wonder who that smart guy was? (See signature)

Did the change take place when 15" tires became across the board ? Any way to tell which you have ?

IIRC, the 3500 axle came with 5-bolt wheels (14 inch), while the 5K came with 6 bolts. If someone upgraded the wheels to 15x6, but it's mounted on the "small" axle, the new wheel will be larger - but will still have only 5 bolts. (I'm not positive about this, because I haven't looked at other/newer TMs very closely.)

My 2009.5, 2720 with 15 inch wheels has the Dexter 3500lb axel. So I don't think the factory took the lead after all. I'm still looking for the smart guy...

Do your stickers indicate "load" values in excess of 1300 lbs? I thought that the new "upgrade" ones indicated such figures, which could imply the 5K axle -- unless TM imagines running them with enormous amounts of tongue weight, and big "discounts" for un-sprung wheel and tire weights. Perhaps my 2619 remains "exceptional".
