Default Electrical TM to TV Cable

I recently replace the Bargman connector on the electrical cable on my TM. The original one was wrapped in duct tape due to the rubber insulation case pulling back from the connector. The actual connections in the TM are in the lower refrigerator access area. This seems to make trouble shooting issues with the TM to TV connections difficult. I was thinking of installing a water proof fuse block on the inside of the tongue and connect the cable from the TM to one side and the cable from the TV to the other. Has anyone thought about doing this or maybe has already done it?

Doesn't sound like a good idea. Your proposed new fuses have the potential to interrupt the electric brake circuits, as well as the running lights, brake lights, and so forth - without providing any indication to the driver that these circuits are no longer functioning.

From a safety point of view - which is what fuses are for - each of these circuits is already fused at the proper level within the tow vehicle.

You can interrupt the line to the backup lights, and the battery charge line with no safety issues. The others, not so much.

Thank you for the comments. I was forgetting about the fuses in the TV. I was thinking of a 7 way cable with a connector box. I was directed to this replacement cable.

I think it will do what I was trying to get at.

Ron -

I like this a lot better. Once the box is mounted, it will be easy to see (hard to forget) that you have been doing some work, because the box will be open. Once your work or testing is done and the connections re-assembled, only then do you close the box.
