Microwave

Dumb question coming up, but here goes anyway!

I have the movable counter top/drawer that sits on the counter immediately next to the wardrobe closet.

We use it to store the microwave oven, as I understand many others do also.

My question is - where do you plug in the microwave? To use it we must move it to the counter top over the refrigerator. I cannot find an outlet anywhere near the microwave next to the closet.

What am I missing?

In my TM there is an outlet on the step up to the fixed counter to the left of where I put the microwave drawer.

Ours, too has the outlet on the step up to the stove - it faces the wardrobe (closet), kind of under the lip of the counter. You have to move the microwave drawer to find it. (I wrote this at the same time Leon was writing, that's why it says almost the same thing!)

As posted, many people use an outlet strip or extension cord from the existing outlet. Unfortunately for me, I never seemed to remember to plug in the extension cord before I put the microwave in place, thereby blocking access to the outlet. Senior-itis, I guess. But if you are qualified to do the work, it is not hard to add a handier outlet, as I did. The third photo in this post is probably relevant to your question.

We have attached a two plug outlet to a thin bracket and then to the rear of the microwave drawer. A short cord wih plug (about 10" long) is then attached to the two plug outlet. When sliding the microwave shelf back in, we plug this short cord into the outets that are installed on the rear left side of the opening spot for the microwave shelf. The outlet made of bakelite is self contained and therefore is very thin. This outlet is then easily available for use by the microwave, coffee pot, or?

I took a multiple outlet strip and bought a 90 degree appliance plug. Cut off the cord to about 1' and installed the new plug end. Fortunately, I don't have to remember to plug it in b4 setting the drawer in place. That's DW's job!! :-)
