Don't expect it to be a TV but a "multi-media display panel". Just like "on-demand" is replacing scheduled programming.
Major issue is the bandwidth required for High Definition TV is in the gigabit/hour range & currently expensive.
When unlimited LTE is available Video over IP will join Voice over IP in replacing their analog equivalents.
Just since I built this house have seen 1200 baud dialup replaced by a 85 MB/s unlimited pipe and do not even have the latest. Wireless is next.
Suspect the casualties are going to include satellite TV unless they can figure out an effective way to make it two way.
Meanwhile "Snow Crash" (1992) becomes reality.
