Default Awning opener

Does any have a picture of what the original awning rod looks like? My used TM did not come with one, so I purchased one from Camping World

https://www.campingworld.com/awning-pull-rod-4430.html

but the hook seems too thin, I suspect the original one was either thicker or had a different shape to get more leverage.

Anyone know of what would be a more appropriate replacement?

This looks like it will do:

I'll try to take a picture of the hook when I get home if no one else has replied.

The one in your first link looks like a plain straight rod, like a pull-only rod, and it is described as being used on a pull-down awning. I'm not sure how it would work on a crank up-down awning, since it apparently does not have a crank handle. The one in your second link looks more correct. Did you check with the awning manufacturer, probably Fiamma? If so, the Fiamma web site has a detailed description of the proper crank.

I can't check mine, since my TM is closed up in the garage. BTW, the TM awning rod is often stored under the bed mattress, or in the sewer hose compartment in the back bumper. Did you check those?

Bill's correct. The second link is the opening crank. Fiamma offers three different sizes, but here's a link to the difference sizes. They're pricy, but I would think you could come up with an other cheaper option. Maybe a wooden dowel with a hook screwed into the end??

Not sure but it might be behind one of the cushion backs in the dinette. On my KS the crank is stored behind the cushion back of the couch in the slide.

Happy camping!

Kidkraz links are better pictures than mine, so I won't bother posting.

Thank you all for your replies. I did look in the bumper compartment and under the mattress and al the other compartments, but it was not there, I suspect the previous owner lost it. At least I know what specifically I need to buy.
