Default Towing MPG

Just wanted to share this. This is my actual mileage pulling a 3124KS (comes in right at 5,000 lbs.) for over 3200 miles (Harker Heights, TX to Richmond, VA and back). I have a 2013 F150 with the 5.0L V8. I used the "Tow/Haul" transmission mode for the whole trip, and kept the cruise control set at 67 mph. I traveled on I-20 and then I-85, so no significant hills to climb with the exception of the area around Birmingham, AL. This represents about a 3.5 mile per gallon improvement over my old (2004) 5.4L, which had less torque and horsepower.

I am pleased.

Dave

davlin,

Sounds great. I would take a 3.5 MPH improvement. What was you MPG with the new TV?

Not bad for a gas 5.0 V8. I usually get 17-18 with a 3.6 V6 @65 mph.

Yeah, but Padgett, you're pulling that teeny, tiny 2720!

But with a full load of electrics and electronics (gotta be able to run the AC & keep batteries charged when dry camping...)
