Default New tires for Tundra :-(

Hi all! Long time no see! The Bridgestone tires that came on our 2012 Tundra already need to be replaced after 16,000 miles :-( Does anyone have a recommendation for replacements? Obviously not impressed with Bridgestone.

Unless there is a different need, any car I plan to keep gets Michelins. I just replaced the OEM Goodyears on my tow car at 20k miles and with 6/32nds remaining with some LT2s because I didn't like the way the GYs felt in the rain and was seeing the traction control light come on.

Am finding that the real difference in tires is how much traction they have after being 1/2 worn. Michelins I have had feel good in the wet down to the bars.

I just put new tires on mine last week. It came with a set of low end Michelin tires that lasted almost 35K. They still had some miles left on them but because they sit most of the time like my trailer tires I decided I would replace them after the blowout on the trailer. The tires were the same age and the truck's had only about 2K additional miles.

I was going to wait until spring but Cosco had $70 off on a set of 4 Michelin LTX MS2 that have 70K warranty.

I am extremely pleased with the price vs ride and quality of the Toyo Open Country tires on my Tacoma. I have the HT tires (highway tires). But I also have heard great reviews on the Open Country MT and AT tires if you have more off-road or snow weather needs than I do.

Pushing 25K on them now and more than half the tread still there.

I agree with Lesharp. I have the Michelin LTX MS2 tires. They wear well, the ride is smooth and traction is good.
My '04 Tundra originally came with Dunlops that were so bad (vibration that couldn't be fixed and poor traction) that I could not wait until they were worn out at 30k miles so I could get rid of them.

I ate up tires on my full size ford van when it was new. First I had the wheels aligned. Than I bought Michelin LT tires with a road tread. I aired them exceeding the van recommendation but not exceeding the tires max air. I started getting 60+K miles from the tires. Almost on heard of for that year van.

We got almost 60k out of the first set of Toyo open Country AT's we put on the truck, they were rated for 40k. We put another set of the toyo's on this spring and so far they look to be wearing better then the first set. These are load range E LT tires. You couldn't give me a set of Michellens; had two sets on two different vehicles and couldn't get 20k miles out of them.

Thumbs up

I just replaced the tires on my 2012 Tundra had right @ 50000 on mine no problems. I got a deal at my local Toyota Dealer on "Take Off Tires" Brand new tires taken off of new truck to upgrade tire and wheel package. Mine are Bridgestone got out the door all 4 tires mounted ,balanced, disposal fee, and taxes. Plus 60000 mile rated, life time balance, road hazard warranty for $501.55. Same 4 tires at Discount Tires were $1100!! Not all dealerships do it but is worth looking into. Good Luck!

I've been buying Michelin mid-range tires from Sam's club since the last century. Latest was a set of LT2s. I replace at 8-10 years usually with 4-5/32nds left. Get about 40k miles on Florida shell roads (great traction but wear tires).
