I agree 100%. The sunnyside tire is always warmer than the shadyside tire. Never been a problem.

On the other hand, if the shadyside tire is warmer, I think the increased-pressure test is in order. Are you running 14 inch tires? They will be more sensitive to loading. And are both tires the same age (according to the sidewall marking), and from the same brand and country of manufacture (also on the sidewall)? Tire manufacturers have been making a lot of changes in those areas in the last few years.

And finally, the temps you are reporting - 34 and 55 - are truly COLD. Although I have an infrared thermometer, I really trust the touch test more. Do the tires feel anywhere near WARM? When the sidewall temp gets to the point where it is almost painful to my fingers, I start worrying. Anything cooler - warm but not hot - is A-OK.

It would be interesting the next time you pull the tires to grease the bearings. To rotated the tires and see if the higher temp followed the tire?

No the friction of the tire dragging on the pavement, just a data point to check and eliminate. Have seen stranger things happen.

Be interesting to weigh each wheel. I know the lav, water tanks, battery, both sinks, and where I carry the generator are all on the street side.

Agree with rotating tires. If it stays with the tire you may have a belt slipping. If so the next step would be to have it spin balanced and check for wobble or a significant change. Out of balance could increase the temp also.

When guessing it is best to check everything.

I'm running 14 wheels and both have the same age date.

It was so cold today that both gray and black water dump valves were frozen solid with ice hanging on the trailer when we stopped. The tire side walls were actually cold to the touch. It was under 20 degrees all day without wind chill with light snow.

Padgett -

The label on the left is the Federal Certification label for two-axle trailers, and TM applies it to every trailer. The label on the right is an aftermarket label that can be purchased on a roll, run through a printer, and applied by anyone (presumably a tire dealer). Since the label on the left is in agreement with the tire manufacturer's (Goodyear) specifications for the Marathon trailer tire, I would trust it. The one on the right is not necessarily bogus, but could have been applied by a tire dealer when he installed a different manufacturer's tires. If it were mine, I would remove the label on the right.

I don't have that second sticker. I think bill is on to something.

My tires seem to run at the same temps with my hand test?

I have Goodyear's, which have the capability to be over inflated by 10 PSI for higher speeds. I only travel at 65, but still over inflate by 7 PSI, which I think it handles better with the smaller footprint?

I wonder if you over inflated that one Goodyear tire by 5 psi, which would be in the margin of Goodyear's over inflation spec, if it would change temperature?

I over inflated by 5psi today and that tire ran only 15 degrees warmer than the other.

Oh, yes I do have the double inflation stickers . . .

And do you have Goodyear Marathons? If not, what mfr and what model tire?
