Default Changing a flat on '09 3023

I've read on the forum that there is a wheel cover over the tires which must be removed in order to change a flat.I've also read that the bolts require a certain tool in order to remove the cover. Are the bolt heads "allen" type heads? I have several metric allen sockets. Will this suffice to remove the tire cover in case of blowout? I will be picking up a "new to me" 2009 TM 3023 on Saturday Feb 26th in Maryland and dragging it home to Florida. Hopefully I won't run into tire problems as I'm going to attempt the 15 hour trip non-stop.
Thanks for any input...Brian

Not sure on the '09........my '04 uses a small square tip. I just happen to have a file that is missing the handle. The end of the file is square and fits perfectly....

Wayne is right. But don't depend on broken tools. The TM is assembled with a large number of square-drive screws - normal sheet-metal screws, but with a head that accepts a square-tipped wrench. Similar to an Allen wrench, but four sides instead of six. I suggest that you go to any hardware store and get a set of three square-drive screwdrivers. I don't recall offhand (and my TM is in storage) what the correct size is, but you can get them for a couple bucks each.

I always have my Leatherman on my side which also has a bit set with the Square drive which is actually fairly common & easily found.

As others have said any hardware store has the square bits.

I have made that run from MD before, we stop at Santee SP in SC. Makes the run a little easier.

The correct size square drive or bit is a #2.

If you have the lift kit, you probably won't even have to remove the skirts. I didn't.

I just now read this thread. I went to my kitchen "odds n ends" drawer and got out a couple of standard square tipped screwdrivers. I walked out to the driveway and fitted the end of the smaller one into the square hole in the screw. It fit "cattycornered" into two of the corners, and I turned the screw by maintaining a little forward pressure while twisting my wrist counter clockwise. I measured the width of the tip at 5/16".

I will pick up the appropriate screwdrivers when I think of it. Meanwhile, what I have is adequate.
