Cool Shelf

We could never find a good place for our little electric fan, so I decided to build a small shelf in the rear bunk area. I used similar mounting hardware that the factory uses to mount cabinets - in fact I ordered the hardware from the factory because I could not find it locally. The fan's electrical cord was just long enough to reach the AC outlet in the bathroom without using an extension cord. See attached pictures.

Do the mounting hardware screws or bolts go all the way through through the wall?

I used the fasteners supplied with the backer plates - square drive, coarse threaded, sheet metal type screws, about 3/4" long. They penetrated the inner wall only, and seem to be holding OK. I'll see how well the sheet metal screws hold - if neeeded, I can try some plastic inserts.
