When I closed the front shell, I was able to hear a noticeable sound of metal under tension, a spring or "BOING!" like sound. I notice this when I last opened the front shell. The back shell did not make any noise.

Anyone know what that would indicate?

Something unusual, that's for sure. How you looked underneath to see if all the torsion bars are still intact, as well as all the parts of the frame where screws put the ends of the bar under pressure? It could also be that one of those bolts was just loose enough that the torsion bar slipped under the screw.

Yes, everything seems to be intact. I will have to take a closer look when the weather warms up.
