Default 12 Volt ceiling light rubbing on rear shell roof

i have searched the forum and didn't find an answer to this problem. On my 2009 2720 SL, there are 4, 12 volt ceiling lights by the 2 roof vents. When closed and traveling, they rub on the roof of the rear shell. The lenses are scratched and the paint is off the roof in those areas. Is my rear shell too high when closed, or my front shell too low? What controls how far the front shell comes down (besides my lights :-) )? - the rear shell has bumpers.
Thank you in advance for any info on this topic

It almost sounds like someone moved your lights, TM originally installed the lights in the vents, bad idea cause they get wet if the vents are open and it rains. The other possibility besides what you mentioned is they were replaced with thicker ones.

Agree with previous post. I have a 2009 2720SL and unless my memory is failing the lights don't hang below the ceiling as they are in the vents. Are the lights LED? If so, they may be aftermarket and larger.

Thank you for your responses. I have attatched a pic of the ceiling lights - do not know if they are originals. There are 7 total and they all match even the one in the hall to bed. Not LED's. I do not think they were changed as this unit is 4 years old and it sat in a field for the last 3.

I agree, the stock lights are recessed into the vent box and its a larger box to accommodate the lights as well. I would have to call the factory and give them the VIN number for assistance on what to do?

My TM is closed at the moment, so I can't check. But if memory serves, my lights (one pair, not two) are mounted next to the center trim molding, one oneither side. The ceiling is higher there, so it might make a difference - although of course the rear shell roof is also bowed up.

I'll confirm that next time I get into the thing. Meanwhile, I don't see an immediate solution to the problem except to raise the front shell a little bit as you suggested in your original post. Just a bit - not enough to break the contact with the bag seal, of course. Or replace them with some really flat (or flush-mounted) light fixtures.

Yours is an oddball configuration, I think. You have two passive vents. I have only one, centered on the trim. And my lights are definitely not mounted in the vent housing.

Ed, I would contact one of the dealers and send them that picture. The dealer may have some ideas or suggestions for a lower profile light.

Ed,

It looks like there are no screens in either of the vents. Is that correct? If so, the previous owner(s) may have removed the screen, to which the pair of lights are attached using a simple adapter. The adapter is easily removed. It would be fairly easy to re-install the lights in their current location. Not sure why anyone would do that unless it was to move the lights away from water problems with the vents.

I don't think adjusting the shell heights when closed will solve the issue. Keep in mind the shells bounce some while under tow.
