Default Glue Suggestions for Counter

The thin strip of counter material on the side of my counter is loose. I want to reglue it. It's by the sink. I was thinking Elmer's originally but doesn't that get too thick? I'd like it to be thin and look original. Being near the sink, water proof would be good. Anyone know what kind of glue those counter tops use? Any suggestions on what to to try?
