Default Replacement rubber frame pads?

This is an OffShoot of Colorado's Torsion bar adjustment segment.

During my last trip I noticed that the rubber pads where both shells sit on the frame, in front and back of the trailer are worn and cut in half.

Has anyone else experienced this failure?

If so, has anyone else replaced these four pads?

How urgent is it that I replace them? ???

Thanks for your help!

I've noticed that the 2 on the front have been worn down quite a bit. I don't remember noticing the rear ones but will check this weekend. I have the same questions as 2619PDX.

Hi all,

My front pads are worn but still there, but the back ones have split where the screws hold them onto the frame. Sometimes they slip to the side. I finally lost one last trip.

We only bought the TM last summer, but it looks like this has been going on for awhile because the rear upper shell has two worn spots where they were moving against the frame during travel.

I have ordered 4 new ones from the factory & plan to replace them before our Labor Day trip.

If they are cut in half it won't be long before the shell will be rubbing against the frame. I would replace them.

Pam:
Look on your trailer frame rails, at the ends of the trailer box, both in front and in back of the trailer box. (Box being the bottom of the unit.)

On my 2619, there are 4 rubber pads, one per rail, on both ends of my trailer.

Dan: How much are the replacements you bought? Are they just screwed into the frame? Mine looked like they were riveted onto the frame.

I think those frames are heat treated, are they not? Cause I'm still trying to figure out how to remount the replacement pads.

Maybe liquid Nails???

Gregg, I could be wrong, but they're simply chunks of rubber, probably costs more to ship them than the parts even, I would suggest ordering new ones. Mine are a bit worn, but still intact. Of course now, dunno what they're making them out of, but same rubber as a tire comes to mind with mine. I think glue would work just fine. They don't seem to be that expensive, but do seem necessary as without them, you're going to have your clam shells bumping on that metal frame going down the road. They keep things snug and not bouncing around.

Dan (Dancin--)

Could you share the cost of ordering these pads from the factory?

You're right of course! Too bad I can't find some of the old used tire chuncks they used to sell as plant hangars as that material would work quite well!

I'd like to find something thats going to live a little longer though...

Well, sounds like another call to Jimmy Davis is in order.

Will post what I learn.

thanks!

Hi all,

Just received 4 new pads from TM. Cost $4.60, freight $6.55.

Total $ 11.15

These new pads are 5 inches long, which seem quite a bit longer than my originals. Will know more when I install them.

Take care.

Dan
