Tire blow out video
Just saw this link on RV Forums. Does this apply to trailers?

We had a blowout towing a pop up once and the only way I knew it happened was that another driver pulled up to alert us. I've read similar stories on this forum of drivers not realizing they had a flat on their trailer. That is why so many owners lose their plumbing when they have a blowout and don't know it until the tire completely comes apart.
That's why so many of us have invested in a tire pressure monitoring system. It will alert you when your pressure drops and the 507 system also monitors temperature.

Over the years I've had a number of incidents and always knew it immediately, guess I just have a sensitive butt.
That said I plan to get a TPMS but have so many displays in the dash already that this sounds like a really good idea.
A major thing to look for is replaceable batteries.

Never knew to give it gas?? Nice tip.
I also have had flats on trailers that I never felt.

Been there done that both with the left front on the TV and the curb side on the TM and yes the video is correct. Momentum is your friend. Guess I was very lucky in high school that we could afford a private driving school instructor besides what they taught at the high school. The second very lucky thing is I reacted correctly many years later without a lot of thought at the time.

If you watch the video, turn on closed captions, they are hilarious.
I use the same rule as in racing: do nothing suddenly and my TVs have a whole lot better power to weight ratios than the RVs shown. No way I'm going to floor it and trigger a downshift. I stay neutral until I can slow but everything is done gently and with no suddent movements of anything unless looking at the grille of a semi.

Another important feature to have in your TPMS is an audible alarm. The 507 system emits a loud beep when any tire drops below whatever setting you program into the system. It also beeps if any tires temperature goes higher than the programmed temp. I like the idea of not having to my eye on it all the time.

With the TPMS system Padgett linked, do those throw tires off-balance? I like the concept, but am curious about balance.
