Default How well does a Highlander do pulling a 2720?

We have a Highlander and have been looking for a camper that it can pull safely. We are currently looking at a 2015 TM2720 QS. Our Highlander is a 2010 with the tow package package (rated for 5000 pounds). In looking at the forum, it seems like there are a few people who have pulled a 2720 with a Highlander. My question is how comfortable and safe is this combination? Are people able to stick with the Highlander as the tow vehicle or are people upgrading to something bigger when they have a chance?

We used a 2012 highlander v6, AWD, Factory Tow Package to tow our 2330. I did also install a factory hitch for the most ground to hitch clearance.

It is a very good TV, pulls very good up mountains. Two Things to note: mirrors are two short we use addons. I felt the the rear end is to soft and the TM has to much sag. I run with with the reese 600 lbs WDH. But I have towed without the hitch,it okay.

Thanks for giving me hope! The current owner is including a WDH which saves me going out to buy one. He's also including tow mirrors!

check the spring bars for there rating. I would not go with anything greater than 600 lbs.

Default We just bought a 2018 Toyota Highlander LE Plus

Gents,
We love our new(to us) Highlander!. Haven't towed anything with it yet.
It came with a U-haul brand Class 3 receiver hitch and 4 pin flat wiring.
I kept the brake controller and WDH from the previous SUV. I had a
'hitch pro' at my local U-haul store reconfigure my WDH to put the top of
the ball at 19.5" inches above ground. As far as wiring for the brake
controller and the 7 pin Bargman connector, I'm having trouble.
Been to two Toyota dealers and neither very helpful. Sent an email to
Tekonsha support for clarification. I'm forced to install a 'pigtail' style cable
harness which will need to be hard wired under the dash for the brake
controller. Supposedly, Toyota Tacoma and Tundra have
a 'plug and play' two connector harness making connecting the brake controller
very easy.
For the 7 pin Bargman connector, etrailer has a 'universal harness' which
includes wires to the SUV battery and brake controller harness.
I think I'll hire the hitch pro at U-haul to install these for me. I'm getting too
old to be crawling under vehicles. They offer a 'service contract' for $10 which
covers any wiring problems.
I'm really looking forward to towing with the Highlander next spring. It's
such a nice vehicle. So many safety features the old Dodge didn't have.

I bought a 4 pin to 7 pin converter. I ran a new wire from the battery to feed the 12v pin. I bought a Tekonsha Prodigy RF brake controller that mounts on the trailer and provides proportional brake control without having to put anything under the dashboard or tap into the brake wiring. I haven’t had a chance to try it on a trip yet but everything seems to work properly on my test drives.
