Table problems

Folks,

My 3023 has a bed in front with two couches facing each other. The table attaches to the front wall of the TM between the couches just below the sliding bed. A good arrangement IMHO.

My problem with the table happens about every other time I want to use it.

I lift up the table, swing down the leg...and then I try to extend the leg. Only it does not extend. So then as I fiddle with the little latch device that is supposed to pop into one of the holes to hold it in place...it falls off.

The sliding part of the leg is then virtually unmoveable w/o lying down on the floor and using a screwdriver tip or something to get it to slide. If I am alone when it happens I have to both hold up the table and fiddle with the leg extension with one hand...not very effective. If I were at home I would just get something from the garage to prop up the table. But...I don't bring the garage on outings. I'm too stubborn to carry along a special stick just to prop up the table.

Any one else have this problem? How did you solve it? I know WD40 might help. But that latch???

Yep, ours does that every once in a while. It is so infrequent that I can never remember what I did to put it back together. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Same here, a real PITA when it happens.

When we were looking at our TM at the dealer we had the same problem. They showed us Bill's trick and no more problem.

FWIW, our table leg is still working with its blob of duct tape jammed in the end (as mentioned in above thread). When it started to jam, I first hit it with WD-40, then white lithium grease. Those lubricants wear off in like, one use. Bottomline is if you just don't push the bottom leg all the way up, it'll work fine next time. Stop it early like Bill mentioned and you'll be fine. I just have kids who instinctively have to shove the thing all the way up every time, so the duct tape stopper works better for our family.

Spray the parts occasionally with Pledge furniture wax. Works great for sticky aluminum ladders.

BTW WD40 is not a lubricant, it is a solvent.

Although used for both WD40 is neither its a Water Dispersant and the 40 comes from the 40th attempt in the development process. And there you have another useless bit of trivia

A water dispersant is a solvent. If it was insoluble it would not disperse water or anything else. My point was people use WD40 to lubricate things, which it does not do well.
