Television reception

Got a new LCD television today and tried to get reception in my driveway using the antenna. TV works in the house on cable ok. I plugged into the cable outlet in the trailmanor and rotated the antenna but no channels came up. Switch in the vent was on. Is there anything else I should be doing?

Did you try pressing the amplifier button on the switch plate ? When you do an indicator LED will come. My TV will not play via the antenna unless the amplifier is on. I don't need the amplifier if I have access to cable TV.

Be sure the TV is set to receive over-the-air signals instead of a cable signal. It'll be a setting in there somewhere....Channel 20 on cable is a totally different frequency than Channel 20 over-the-air.

You might also check to see if the TV has an analog (NTSC) and/or digital (ATSC) tuner. If you have the wrong type tuner for the stations in your area, you won't be able to pick them up. Down here in the US, the analog stations will be phased out by Feb 2009.

I've never used my antenna before, but on my TM, there is a small black button on the faceplate of the coaxial connector/cigarette lighter outlet. I believe that button turns on the amplifier, so you should try turning it on.

Like Leslie & Nick stated, mine also won't work without the amplifier being on. You will need to make sure in your tv settings that it set for either air (or antenna) and not cable. Once you are sure of everything above, you will need to let the television go thru it's auto channel search, so it can find the available local HD television stations.(unless you already know the channel numbers assigned to them).

Your description of what you did confused me...If you are using the antenna and not the cable, the amplifier must be on as others have said and you can rotate your antenna for the best reception. If you plugged your cable into the TM, put the antenna down and turn off the amplifier, as they are not needed. The antenna and cable are two completely different systems and can't be used at the same time. It also might be necessary to have your television do an auto channel setup for whatever source you are using...

I had the same problem last year with my 3124KS. I ran a temp cable from the antenna to the TV and found it worked with this cable. The dealer fixed it under warranty. During the process of troubleshooting I learned a lot about how power antennas work. I had misdiagnosed it as being the wall unit.

So, I've been thinking about this ever since I realized I'd be camping this fall during football season! Since my TM is folded up I can't investigate right now. If I want to plug in to a cable system at an RV park, where do I do that? I don't recall seeing a connection on the outside of the TM, but maybe I just haven't looked. Can't handle not seeing my Oklahoma Sooners play football this fall!

The cable and phone jacks should be just forward of your fridge vents under a covered recepticle.
