Default Upgraded Shocks & Struts?

After towing our 2619 for maybe 10,000 miles over the past three years, I have had my attention pointed to a failed rear shock and a leaking front strut on our '05 4Runner. The Toyota dealer suggests that I replace all shocks and struts and I am wondering if I should try to find some that are a bit heavier duty.

I would sure appreciate some quick feedback. Thanks!

I Used Bilsteins On My S-10 And Will Be Purchasing Them For My Tahoe Next Month.

I would suggest you go to Toyotanation forums. I do for any questions about my Tacoma.

Default Monroe

I recently upgraded my shocks to Monroe.
They have a nifty little app on their website that helps you choose the type of shock for your use/load.

I too wanted something heavier than oem, but not too heavy, since my wife drives the Astro daily with no load.
The new front shocks where much beefier than the oems.
I went with rears that have an external spring around the shock to help with load. I also added Timbrens in the rear, which work great since they only come in to play when heavily loaded. Although you can tell that the rear is stiffer than the front, the ride is now nice, both empty and loaded.
