Default Kentucky to Maine, suggestions wanted

Hello All,
I am planning on taking my family from our home in Louisville, KY to Maine and back during 2 weeks starting the last week of June returning July 11th or so. I Mountain bike and whitewater kayak and will have gear to do both during the trip, I will have my family with me so I will need to stick to areas that have other activities. What I am looking for are potential changes to the itinerary and/or suggestions on places to camp during this trip, we have a trailmanor travel trailer and need parks/sites with full hook up's available. Also, let me know if there are any can't miss stops along the way that I've missed.
I fear I didn't leave enough time for the Adirondacks/Lake Placid, etc. area, does anyone know of any great places to go up there? Also, I don't think Montauk is going to work as there is only one campground and it has no hook ups, we have to have at least electricity.

Day Date Day of Week Location/Activity
1 June 27 Friday Drive to Morgantown leave early as possible and then get to Deep Creek, MD find things to do
2 June 28 Saturday Spend Day in Deep Creek,MD area
3 June 29 Sunday Wake up Early and drive to Hershey, PA
4 June 30 Monday Hersey Park
5 July 1 Tuesday Wake up Go to campground near NY
6 July 2 Wednesday NYC
7 July 3 Thursday Drive to Montauk
8 July 4 Friday Montauk
9 July 5 Saturday Montauk
10 July 6 Sunday Newport RI
11 July 7 Monday Portland ME
12 July 8 Tuesday Portland ME
13 July 9 Wednesday Burlington VT
14 July 10 Thursday Burlington VT
15 July 11 Friday Lake Placid/Watertown
16 July 12 Saturday Home

Thanks in advance for your help.
Pat

- Gettysburg, PA is pretty much the Civil War headquarters, with tons of exhibits and things to do; check out the center where they go through the troop movements using lights on a big map (bleacher seating, if I remember)

- Stop at Chocolate World in Hershey if you'd like to see how Kisses are made. You sit in a cart, and they take you through the tour in the dark, showing you the steps along the way. I believe they also sell "seconds" there.

- There are airshows (every weekend I believe) in Rhinebeck, NY with old biplanes, triplanes, and other barn stormers. Fake dog fights, tank battles, etc. The Red Baron is there. Went there often when I was a kid, and loved it, but haven't been since. They also give rides. There may be camping in nearby Catskill Park.

- In Maine, goto a mom & pop dock to get a plate of whole lobster, chowder, corn, and beer for ~$15. Can't be beat.

- Downtown Freeport is a quaint little place, and of course, is home to LL Bean. They have a factory store there...4 floors. Huge. They even teach fly fishing (with real fish) inside. There's also an outlet there selling their wares at a steep discount. It's not well marked if I remember.

- Lots of stuff to do in Boston, but you don't list it as a stop.

- Goto the farmer's market in Burlington, where you'll experience some local flavor and learn all about maple syrup. Grade A, grade B, amber, dark, etc. Free tastings. It's a brief walk up the hill from the waterfront, which is also a cool place to visit. There is also a drive-in movie theater there, with several screens, and double features at each screen. A total blast, highly recommended. We stayed at a place right across from the Lake...it has power and water, and was pretty nice. Small, maybe 30-40 sites. There's a huge campground there also, but it is complete chaos.
