Default Two questions - Awning support? Vent screens

Has anyone found and pardon my terminology, but the aluminum awning supports that bow up to let the water shed easier than the standard awning support? They have them in CampingWorld but they are 139.00 for a set of two which seems a little steep for pieces of aluminum. Even if you use something different, im all ears, or eyes I guess.

Also, has anyone found anything to place on the vents on the backside of the refrigerator and hot water heater to keep out bugs. I guess you could use standard window screen material but it would be tough to keep it in place or would you have to cut and fit the screen every time you take the vents off?

Here is what someone did to his Aliner. He is from Texas and mud daubers (sp?) are an issue...

If you look at his installation, he has solved the problem of losing the cover (been there done that) by putting the hinge on the cover at the top.

For the vent covers I used some Fiberglass screen and the hot glue gun. (The screen goes on the inside of course. )

Seems to work OK...

Kinda was figuring something like the hot glue gun for the vents with some fiberglass screen but still wondering about the things for the awning. I know most people drop one side. Just wasnt sure if anyone has come up with a mod for some sort of awning support that bows the awning up from its frame just a little.

I think you will like the concept of tilting the awning to let it drain. No extra parts to carry or install and it works just fine.

Year before last I had a catalog from Sun Coast RV. It was a good size catalog about an inch and a half thick. In it you could order a kit of pre formed refridgerator screens that screened in your fridge vent. It was pretty cool but too pricey. If I remember correctly the cost was 35.00. My TM is in the shop (still) for warranty work...but I think 2 kits would be needed because there are 2 such areas to cover. When we do pick up the TM I also will pick up the catalog they forgot to give us during the pdi and I will look it up.

The one I saw looks something like this:

http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/r...ct-screens.htm

Not sure if this is the same product...for me it is hard to see the picture but the concept is the same. It was long rectangles of preformed screen that fit each vent strip for the fridge...if this is it the price is better.

Here is another pic...from another company:

http://www.rvadenver.com/camco_roof_...ns_for_rv,.htm

What I did was take metal screen and formed my own screen cover...a large one piece cover to screen the entire area...and held it in with command strips from the 3m company. (this was on our 30rls Outback Sydney...I have not had time to do anything for the TM but probably will...may purchase from one of these companies...undecided at this time)

Here is one made for the Norcold refridgerator...the dealer also lists them for other makes of fridges:

http://www.us-rvparts.com/index.php?...&products_id=6

The ads...state that it will not block the air flow...which is important.

Thanks for the links countrygirl. I ordered the screens for the furnace and the upper and lower vent on the fridge. One tip; they come in one long piece and I coudnt figure out how to attach them and still close up most of the gaps. With a little thinking and a couple hours with the tin snips, I was able to trim them to fit nice and snug. They are secured to the existing vents with zip ties. I purchased them at the us-rvparts site.
