It's not easy peasy, but not that hard. I think the first big question is what do you want to replace it with. Cost is next and then do ya have the skills to do it yourself or do you need someone else to do the work. I replaced mine with the Thetford C223 cassette model. This has been a highly discussed item and what ever you decide I know the forum will help answer questions. You can look at my album pics on my swap out. My biggest problems were having to cut into the side of my rig and hooking up the plumbing. Good luck with your decision.

Wait a minute. Did you mean "change" or "charge" the toilet? Your question sounds more like the latter.

"Change", as in "rip out and replace", has been discussed at great length (use the Search tool), so I won't say more here.

If you simply want to stop the leak so you can "charge" the toilet, it is not tremendously hard, though it does take some time. And it is a whale of a lot cheaper than buying and installing a new unit.

You can probably still get gasket kits if you are trying to fix a leak. Also, you might be lucky and find a new recirculating toilet. I did , but I might have gotten the last one in North America.

Sadly, I have no idea what you are describing or asking. If you would like to clarify the problem, perhaps we can be of more help.

I think he means the gate valve that you open when you dump the recirculating toilet, except that he thinks it is going into another holding tank which the TM doesn't have. I could be wrong though.

If it is the gate valve that you open and close at the bottom of the toilet, the part number is 12836 and appears to be currently available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Thetford-1283.../dp/B003D5BOL8

Larry -

You are right. He and I discussed it off line, and sure enough, it is the Slide E-Z valve that is leaking. One of the gaskets that seals against the blade is folded or torn, and neither condition can be simply fixed. I tried it, years ago. I found a couple sources for both the gasket set and the entire valve assembly, and sent them to him. They do seem to be getting rare, though. Time to stock up?

Incidentally, when searching for Thetford parts, I have found that it is better to search by part name, rather than Thetford part number. For some unknowable reason, Thetford occasionally uses multiple different part numbers for the same part.

Yep I’ve found two different parts listings, depends on when places got items in stock… And yes parts are getting scarce pretty quick.
