Dual Receiver Hitch for bike rack?
We have an opportunity to buy a 2002 2619. The spare tire is mounted to the rear. This would preclude my idea to add on a rear receiver hitch to use for my bike rack. So thinking of another way to have a bike rack.
I was unable to use a dual hitch as a solution on our A frame that we've had for a few years. The propane tanks are too close to the hitch ball. I've been eyeballing pictures of TrailManors trying to determine if there is room. It SEEMS like the single propane tank might be far enough back.
Does anyone use a two bike rack in conjunction with a dual hitch? Please tell me that works! lol
I am not interested in a front hitch even though I've seen that as a solution.

Trying to visualize. Won't the jack stem be in the way?

The stem, hopefully, will be between the wheels of the bikes hanging down. Or maybe the bikes hanging down are between the stem and the propane tank.
I've seen this set up work. I'm just hoping the hitch triangle on a TrailManor is long enough to accommodate it.

I’m pretty sure that dual hitch receiver means you won’t be able to use a weight distribution hitch... Why can’t you add a receiver to the rear of the camper?

I have something like this on my project 2720... The spare tires is between the two racks. Jason over on TrailManor Fans Facebook page said they worked fine for him with the spare tire in place.

Dumb question, perhaps, but 2002 was a transition year for TMs. I owned a 2002 2720SL, and the spare was mounted underneath, just forward of the entry door, where it is today. I presume you have actually eyeballed the trailer you are thinking of buying?
Second dumb question. I clearly recall that in that era, some trailers had a rear-mounted spare that was located off-center, on the curbside end of the bumper. This might enable you to mount a rear receiver, and use a long-shank hitch to carry the bike rack. You would have to be careful about dragging it on the pavement on bumps and swales, but ...
A quick romp around Google shows examples of both. Again, I presume you have actually eyeballed this trailer?

Yes, I have seen pictures of the one we are considering driving 4 hours to look at in person.
And yes, the spare tire is mounted off center, towards the curb. I thought about an off centered receiver tube. But we our little A Frame will hit our less than forgiving driveway entrance dip sometimes. I'm pretty sure an ultra long hitch with bike rack wouldn't work.
That's why I am wondering if the bike rack "sharing" the car hitch would work. I've seen that there are heavy duty ones that will hold a combined weight of 7,500 lbs so I'm not worried about that.

Something like this would hold the bikes without a long bar pointing out the back end. The bike rack could be removed before backing it into a driveway.
It's only a thought. Also, the spare tire could be moved to underneath the trailer.

There's also the potential option of mounting a bike rack to the TM tongue. Of course, you'd probably have to remove the rack (and bikes) before setting up, but if you're just going somewhere for the weekend (or longer), that's probably not a big deal.

Dave, that's a nice idea and I'd certainly consider it, except I wouldn't be able to get 4 bikes on it.
