Default Please confirm no tv antenna on 2720SL -

Well, I'm becoming familiar with my new 2012 2720SL, and liking it.

I had an issue with no signal on the outside curb side, but found that
was due to somebody at some time stuffing the floor cabinet and breaking
the coax connector near the top of the storage area. Used standard pliers
to refresh the coax connection, typical monkeyriggin', but the signal is good.
I affixed a plastic cup over the connection to help protect it.

Anyway, it has the mentioned 3 inside to tv, 1 curb to tv, and 1 street input.
Now, they work when I attach an antenna to the street input jack, and that
is good.

A Winegard brochure came with the documentation, and it shows the bat
antenna, which I believe is for the radio, along with the amp button. I do
not see any TV antennas on the camper. Brochure shows lots of TV antennas.

So, is that all there is? Or is there a TV antenna somewhere? Ain't no crank
in the roof. Ain't no roof repairs.

In some areas, especially where there are pop-up storms, a TV is good for
weather forecasts in real-time.

If you have a fixed or crank up antennae on the roof of the front shell, that's TV. The radio antennae should be on the street side rear of the front shell mounted just above the seal, laying flat.

I have a copy from 2012 brochure and the tv antenna was an option. So, it is possible your rig didn't have one installed. You should be able to find an external antenna that would plug into the street side cable connection. One of my camping friends uses one for his rig. It gives him the option of moving the antenna to the roof or elsewhere to get a good signal.

Just noticed this issue. The crank-to-raise antenna always was the batwing, made by Winegard and formally called the Sensar. The manufacturer (and most of the rest of the RV world) commonly refers to it this way because of its batwing appearance.

A few years ago, TM discontinued use of the batwing antenna, and substituted a fixed, non-rotatable unit called a Jack antenna. I suppose it was easier to install, and it certainly made for a smaller hole in the roof - a persistent source of leaks in the TM. Personally, I missed the ability to rotate the antenna to point it at a weak station, or reject a strong interfering station. But in those days, TM didn't consult me.

Apparently Jack came to agree that non-rotatable was a bad idea. At the present time, they apparently sell a fixed-mount (no crank-up) rotatable version of the original Jack antenna, and a version that appears to be a new antenna head that is mounted atop the old Winegard crank-up-and-rotate structure. I've never seen either one. It is certainly not on my 2020 TM, and although current TM website photos of the outside show the Jack antenna on the roof, the inside photos don't show a rotation handle on the ceiling.

Is it better than the old batwing? I don't know. Confused? Me too.

My project 3326 got a new, old style but newer version Winegard Batwing. I requested it specifically (and also ordered it off Amazon and had it sent there) because I also have a wifi repeater/booster antenna on top of the mast. So being able to raise it up gives it a little bit more “range”.

Default Received my new TV antenna today,

and it is a

KING OmniGo Portable Omnidirectional Over-The-Air HDTV Antenna.

I am posting this, because it works amazingly well, and I highly recommend
it. It comes with a light tripod and a magnetic mount. The magnetic mount
is heavy enough that the antenna should stay in place just inside the lip edge
of the TM roof. I would trust neither mount in a severe wind storm.

Its reception is amazing, and it is available from many vendors.

Happy Camping!
