The Stealer can divert a 2wd from a different region or you special order one.

Is there that big a difference in price between 2wd and 4wd when you figure in delivery and resell value? And I was curious what the MPG difference is? Just curious really. If you ever have to sell it, you'll lose a lot due to the 2wd.

I have used the 4wd several times to get where I needed and in bad rain, I'd still be stuck in the sand on the outter banks if not for 4wd, trucks are too squirrely in bad weather for me to not have 4wd. That's me though...not meaning to try and convince you of anything. Just more info...
The upfront cost difference between the two is thousands and they say about 3mpg. We're not too concerned about resale . . .

We're gonna hope you meant "Dealer" I'm sure that is true but no one seems very interested in doing so. We think we're going to pick up what we want in Nebraska. We checked out Dodge, Chevy & Ford today to make sure we think it's worth the hassle . . . we do.

Have you considered the buying services of Costco and AAA? They advertise that they can get you the car you want for less by using their "buying power". I have never tried them, but it is possible that they could help or at least find what you want.

as mentioned, you can't special order Toyotas. You get what is on the lot or the dealer finds one as close to your wish list from another dealer. My father was a Toyota dealer for many years. If someone says they can order it, they are locating one for you or you are waiting for the factory to make one that mostly fits the bill and it may or may not come to your region. It could take months....

No, we hadn't thought of that but I think we've got it wrapped up with a little 3 1/2 hour trip to NE.

The Tundra is a great choice. I went back and forth on the 4.6 v 5.7L engine and eventually picked the 5.7L. It towed my 2720 without a WDH better than my Sienna did with a WDH. Handling and stopping power were excellent with the TM. I love my Tundra and don't regret the purchase at all. Good luck with your purchase.

Thanks so much for the information. We've got a 2619 so we're going small however . . . We'll never go to a 5th wheel but we may tire of not being able to pull over and get something out of the fridge or use the restroom. It's still a lot of hp.

I have the smaller engine (4.6 or 4.7, can't remember) in my Sequoia, which is built on the Tundra platform. It's the earlier design, which was revamped into its current form in 2008 or so. I've towed the TM with the Sequoia for probably 25,000 miles, and not once have I ever felt it was underpowered. Sometimes I felt the suspension was a little too soft when towing (which probably wouldn't be the case in a pickup), and the brakes could sometimes use a little beefing up for panic stops or long downgrades, but never felt it was too weak for power.

And our TM weighs ~4,000 lbs wet.

Overall, I've been very pleased.

Dave
