2600 Lbs 15's dont exist..or do they?

Ive been on the phone all morning trying to find a model number or manufacturer of a 15inch 2600lbs steel wheel that will fit the trailer. I see people on here bought them from dexstar, but they dont have them in 5 bolt with that rating. Went to www.trailertiresandwheels.com, they show on thier website these http://www.trailertiresandwheels.com...duct/SP1565SWE. But being sceptical, I called them, and they say they are Kenda Loadstar's...which actually is a tire, and Kenda doesnt make wheels, only tires. Only to find out that Kenda is a affiliated with Dexstar, who doesnt make one with this rating. so confused!

Discounttire can get me some with 2150lbs rating...thats the highest I have found.

Lots of people say thiers have stamped 2600lbs on thier wheel, but with no information on where they bought them, who made them, or what thier model number is.

Please help, i am so sick of looking for wheels.

I don't think you need to worry about getting super high capacity wheels -- the weak point you are trying to address is the tires.

2150 lb wheels would be fine -- that's 4300 lbs total.

If you have a fully loaded TM that weighs 4,000 lbs (like several of us have reported), 500 lbs of that goes on the tongue and 50 lbs of that are tires. So only ~3,450 lbs will be on the wheels.

My old 14" wheels (and every one else's here with 14" tires) were only rated for ~1,850 lbs, and they carried the same weight without any issue.

Trailmanor's current specs on your size trailer are 2915lbs dry weight, and 1923lbs load capacity, for a total of 4,838. Yours may vary some. Subtract the tounge weight and tire weight as dave suggests, and your max axle load is 4,288. (Check your axle to make sure of the max load cap). That's still 12lbs less than the wheel rating. As an ignorant teenager working construction years ago, i used to load a 1/2 pickup with a couple tons of concrete. I bent the rear axle, burned up clutches, broke a driveshaft and blew out tires, but I never had a wheel problem.

I was just pricing 15" tire/wheel combos to upgrade from the 14" wheels on my 2005 2720SL. I found the white spoke wheel and Transmaster 225/75/R15 E rated tire combo for 470.00 out the door from Discount for 3 wheels/tires...mounted, balanced, with 416 stems. Add 80.00 for Marathons (Load range D), and 80.00 for aluminum wheels. BTW, i found pricing from 430-900 for the same equipment by calling around.

After lot of research on this forum, and lots of other places, I did not find any difinitive quality difference between ANY of the trailor tires. Biggest factor that seems to make any difference is size and load rating.

I went with the wheel you mentioned, the SP1565SWE from trailertiresandwheels.com. At $36.01 + shipping, they were about what I could get a lesser-load-rated rim for locally. Bought them after other TM forum members reported using them successfully.

I keep seeing a lot of people posting about E rated tires.

I have not found an E rated ST tire in my limited search.

Perhaps everyone has switch over to the truck tires (LT)

Do you need an E rated tire? The ride will be much harder since the psi will be higher. I just went from 14" to 15" tires this weekend (got them on and torqued tonight). D load will be just fine for my TM. Something to consider. Also, went with 2050 lb Dexstar wheels. The manager at Merchants Tire did everything I wanted to without trying to over or under sell me. He was going to get me a different brand of wheels, but ended up getting Dexstars for about the same price he quoted me, under $500 for wheels, tires, hi-pressure stems and balancing.
