Leveling the vehicle with the air bags has to put some of that weight back on the front axle.

Unfortunately, no. Bags jack up the rear end, but don't move the weight. After all, the bags are installed inside the rear springs (if you have coil springs) or right beside the springs (if you have leaf springs). It is the functional equivalent of replacing the spring with one that is a couple inches longer - the weight still comes down on the rear axle.
