Default 1985 TrailManor

We recently purchased out 1st camper...a 1985 TrailManor 25. We love it in our yard and would love to enjoy it in a local campground if we could figure out the weight of the camper and what vehicle will it take to pull it? If anyone could help us with these questions please do so!!!! We would hate to lose the summer and not be able to use it. Thanks

If you look at the floorplans on this page, which one looks the most like your trailer?

http://web.archive.org/web/199807020....com/flpl.html

I'm still confused about the older model #'s and how they match up to the current model #'s.

This is the earliest TrailManor company webpage that I could find with the "Wayback Machine".

If you can measure the overall length, that would help. Measure from the back of the back bumper to the tip of the trailer tongue, either open or closed.

My guess would be that you have (what was later called) a 2518. That would be 22' open and 18' closed. I may be wrong.

If it is a 2518, it's probably around ~3500# fully loaded and has a tongue weight around ~400#.

Those weights could be way off depending on what equipment and modifications have been made to the trailer in the last 25-years. The safest thing to do is to load it up like you are ready to go camping and use a friends truck to tow it to a local official scale and have it weighed.

When figuring on the capacity of a tow vehicle (TV), one must find out the total weight carrying/towing capacity of that vehicle including passengers, cargo, fuel and fully loaded trailer. On some vehicles, this is listed as the GCWR (Gross Combined Weight Rating) of the vehicle. You will also have to consider the tow rating (this is secondary, far more complicated than it may appear and must not be considered on it's own) of the vehicle, both axle ratings and the tire ratings. You should find a vehicle the exceeds the actual weights of of your set-up.

I don't know guys but your estimates as to a TM25 being equal to a 2518 or 2619 may be a little low. I have a TM23 and the floor plan is that of a 2720. So my guess is that a TM25 would be larger than my TM23. IMHO

The older TM model numbers M23, M25, etc were based on the "Body Length - Open". This data can be found in the TM model specifications:
http://www.trailmanor.com/WebDocs/Sh...ecs/specs.html
These older models had a smaller "wet bath" and tended to be a little shorter than the current models with the same floor plan.

What is the overall length and year of your TM23?

You may be surprised to know that the overall length of a 2720 is 23' 11" fully opened. I'm actually a little surprised at how few TM owners actually measure the length of their trailer opened.

I'm not sure how you come to that conclusion from that chart.....

I did not "come to that conclusion from that chart". I looked at some of the early TrailManors at the Monroe Boat and RV show in the mid-late '80s. The local dealer, Carter's Campers, was the first dealer to sign on with TrailManor and had them on display there. The model numbers at that time were based on the open body length. I pointed to that chart for a guide to help translate the old model numbers.

My forgetter works overtime these days but if memory serves 23' 11" is about right. There is no way it could be confused as 27' long and it is an 89 model.

Hi Mike,

The following link shows some floor plans, and to my accountant's eye, the bathroom sizes all appear to be the same.
